Short version: no tracking and no ads. RampUp uses an email account so your subscription and study progress work on the website and iPhone. Rampy, the in-app tutor, also reaches the internet when you ask it a question.
RampUp receives your email address so we can send your sign-in code and connect your subscription and study progress to your account. We also store that synced study progress, including answers, levels, streaks, review state, bookmarks, exam scores, your general Rampy conversation and any Rampy answers you save as notes. We do not sell or share this information for advertising, and there are no advertising or analytics SDKs in RampUp.
We never receive your phone number, location, contacts, or advertising identifier, because RampUp never asks for them. The first name entered during website onboarding is used only to personalize that setup and remains in that browser.
All practice questions, all exam questions, every concept lesson and every narrated explanation are stored in the app itself. Your answers, progress, streak, daily goal, review schedule, bookmarks, exam scores, starting levels and daily plan are also kept locally so RampUp continues to work offline. A copy of that study progress is synced to your account as described below. Clearing browser data or deleting the app removes the local copy from that device.
Website onboarding begins in your browser. If you continue into the signed-in app, your coursework answers and the levels calculated from them become part of the study progress synced to your account.
When you create or use your RampUp account, we store your email address, account identifier, study progress (the same stats, streak, review pile and bookmarks described above), your general Rampy conversation, saved Rampy notes, and the subscription status that controls your access. Sync also keeps a small set of random installation identifiers so recent updates from your signed-in devices can be merged without an older copy overwriting newer progress. For web subscriptions, the access record can include the Stripe checkout-session identifier and verified plan, status and expiration date; it never includes card details. These records are kept in our database — Supabase, hosted in the United States — so your other devices can load them when you sign in there too.
Your sign-in codes are delivered by email through Resend. Signing out on a device stops that device syncing and leaves your local progress untouched. Deleting your account removes the account and synced copy from our database. Sync changes nothing else: no tracking, no ads, and we never sell your data. A conversation about one specific practice question remains in the current app session unless you save an answer to your Rampy notes; your general Rampy conversation and saved notes are synced.
Rampy is the tutor built into RampUp. Most of what it does happens entirely on your device with no network connection at all — explaining why an answer is right, why the one you picked is wrong, and finding another question on the same concept. Those never leave your device.
Some of what Rampy can do needs a language model, which cannot run on your device. If, and only if, you tap one of those options, RampUp sends a single request to our server, which passes it to Anthropic's API and returns the answer. Nothing is sent unless you tap.
What that request contains: the practice question you are looking at, its answer choices, which answer you picked, the correct answer, and RampUp's own written explanation and per-choice notes — so the tutor answers from our material rather than improvising. If the question has a reading passage, that passage is sent too. The request also includes the subject, the difficulty level you are working at, how many questions you have answered in that subject and what percentage you got right, and how many days until your test, so the answer can be pitched at the right level. For general Rampy chat, the request contains what you type, up to eight recent turns in that conversation, and a small study summary such as days to your test, total questions answered and your weakest subject. Readiness coaching sends aggregate study statistics rather than a list of individual answers.
What that request deliberately does not contain: your name, your email, or any account identifier — the tutor request carries none of them, even if you have signed in to sync. It also does not contain which courses you told us you have taken.
The one identifier: a random string generated on your device the first time you open RampUp, sent with these requests so we can stop any single device from running up an unreasonable number of them. It is not linked to you, it is not linked to anything else, and it cannot be traced back to a person. Erasing the app erases it.
What our server records: that a request happened — the random string, which kind of request it was, the model used, how long it took and token-count metadata. Not the question, and not the answer Rampy gave. Anthropic receives the prompt so it can return Rampy's answer.
What RampUp saves: the conversation about one specific practice question stays in the current app session. Your general Rampy conversation and any Rampy answers you choose to save as notes are kept locally and synced with your signed-in account, so they can appear on your other devices. Deleting your account removes the server copy.
We never see or store your card details.
On iPhone and iPad, purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. RampUp asks Apple what you are entitled to; that check carries no personal information and none of your practice data. We do not receive your name, email or Apple Account from Apple.
On the web, payment is handled by Stripe, who collect the details needed to take payment and are the controller of that information under their own privacy policy. After you pay, RampUp sends only the checkout session ID from your return link to our verification endpoint, which asks Stripe whether that session was actually paid. The verified subscription status is then saved to your RampUp account so it can unlock your other devices.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioural advertising.
RampUp is study material for a graduate-school admissions test and is not directed at children.
Your email address and synced progress are held under your account. Signing out stops that device syncing and leaves its local progress untouched. To remove the account and server copy, use Delete account in Settings. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple or Stripe subscription, which must be cancelled separately through the store that billed it. “Reset everything” erases local progress from the current device.
